Photography Processing Services
BLACK & WHITE FILM PROCESSING I can offer a hand processing service for B&W film for 35mm, 120 and 5x4 sheet film. The chemicals used are Ilford and Universal Developers, as near a match to the film supplied. Please note that this does NOT include B&W films based on the C41 colour chemistry. These should be taken to a colour processing lab. I charge a STANDARD FEE of £15.00 per film which includes return postage by Special Delivery. Any additional films processed at the same time will be charged at £5.00 each and included in the same return package covered by the initial P&P. e.g. three films would be a total of £25.00. DELIVERY TIME: 7 DAYS The 35mm films will be returned uncut as these can then to be taken a Processing Lab such as Jessops, Costco, Happy Snaps and be printed, scanned and have a CD made far more cost effectively. 120 film can be returned uncut or cut and sleeved as required.
SCANNING SERVICES I can provide scanning of all films from 35mm to 10x8 sheets film in B&W, colour negative, transparency or slide film, mounted or otherwise. Old B&W negatives can be scanned as well, regardless of size and I can scan old glass negatives and colour magic lantern glass slides. Scanning will be either on an Epson Expression 1600PRO flatbed scanner with transparency adapter or on a Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro. Unless specified all scans will be at best optimum input and provided at A4 Tiff size at 300pdi; larger if requested. All scans will be corrected for basic cleanliness, sharpness, colour balance and alignment. Seriously damaged negatives will NOT be restored. NB: Although I can scan in colour negatives, it is more cost effective for you to take them, especially if they are 35mm, to a colour processing lab and while having a set of prints made, also have them copied to CD at that stage. My services would be better used for older individual negatives, 120 or sheet film which cannot be processed at the high street lab. In my experience older 35mm colour negatives are better printed as a gloss print and then flatbed scanned, rather than scanned and then printed through say an ink jet printer as the grain structure and scratches are more prone to be exaggerated through the film scanning process. All scanned images will be provided on 3xCD's with an A4 TIFF at 300dpi and a JPEG at 100dpi for emailing files of each photograph. A Contact Sheet will be provided for easy visual reference. Prints are not supplied of individual photographs as it will be more cost effective to take the CD to high street photo processing lab. The charge for the scanning services is £20 plus £1 per image: slide, no's of film frames on strip of film processed [except see35mm see above]. Over 100 images to be scanned: the charge is £1.50 per image. Postage is extra on returning the scanning orders - please add £5.00 to cover return by Special Delivery. If ordinary First Class postage is preferred then add the amount you spent on sending the order. I can of course scan 35mm films but I would suggest this for only a selection of specific or special photographs, perhaps off old already cut negatives rather than a whole film. If you have sent me a film for processing then I would have to cut it to scan the images in. To get a set of prints off a processed 35mm film and a CD then it is far better to take the film uncut to a processing lab and have both done at the same time and it will be a lot cheaper than me scanning in the film and providing you with a CD.
PAYMENT. I do not have Credit Card facilities. Please send a Cheque or Postal Order for the required amount with your order and include a RETURN ADDRESS. For Valuable items I suggest using Special Delivery so you are covered for Insurance in case of damage in transit. Remember to pack any glass mounted slides, glass negatives or lantern slides very carefully. I do not charge VAT so the prices above are the final ones.
